Meet
Desert Chyld: a bubbly and charismatic young lady with a tremendous
passion for soul music. Rest assured that in her world nothing is the
norm, because she’s a firm believer in the saying ‘conformity breeds
mediocrity’.
Her
passion for music began in 1997 when she was vocalist and member of
the now-defunct R&B trio Soul’d
Out. Conformist she aint’ because she moved from the world of music
into the world of advertising, but not for long. Her dynamic nature
landed her up in the advertising world which led to a keen interest
in TV presentation, landed up being a SABC 1 continuity presenter.
Her
non-conformist attitude has dropped her behind the decks.
She’s
built a name for herself throughout the club scene by working with various
DJs as a freestyle vocalist on their set. This freestyle culture brings
in a live element that is well received in clubs such as Café Vogue,
Monsoon Lagoon, Sublime, various Ferrari-parties and the like. That
experience played a major role in her interest as a DJ. She’s into deep-house,
funky.
On
request, she’ll experiment with some commercial tracks. This young lady
has the ability to bring any party alive.
